The harness racing industry
has lost one of it's finest people this week; trainer-drover
Joe Corona died following heart surgery.
Born September 29, 1932, Corona began his racing career as a
groom for the Chris Boring Stable, and due his integrity,
excellent work ethic, and superb horsemanship, Corona
advanced himself to the ranks of trainers and drivers during
the early 1970s.
His love of the "common" horse was always evident in his
performance, and he enjoyed helping a moderately skilled
horse become a better performer, and a lame horse become
sounder.
He never missed an opportunity to help his fellow horsemen.
He was revered as an excellent horseman, wonderful friend,
and a loving father.
Corona was a member of the California Harness Horsemen's
Association and the U.S. Trotting Association.
