The Californian State Fair is set to
begin its first harness racing meet,
and featured during the session will
be two popular USTA programs.

Kraft will be on hand at Cal Expo on
Friday, Aug. 26 for a Harness Racing
101 seminar, held from 3-5 p.m. The
seminar features:
1. The basic information program
about harness racing;
2. Equipment basics;
3. How to read the program;
4. Betting basics
5. Guests including drivers,
trainers, starter, announcer, etc.
6. Visit to the paddock and
grandstand tour.
After Harness Racing 101, an
Outreach booth will be set up by the
winner’s circle for the duration of
the races for the distribution of
materials, sales of merchandise,
information and prize drawings, and
will also feature visits from
California's best horsemen who will
answer fan questions.
On Saturday, Aug. 27, Kraft and Cal
Expo will host an owner’s seminar,
beginning at 2 p.m., which will
feature:
1. Risks and rewards of horse
ownership;
2. Meeting with owners who race in
California and discussing their
experiences;
3. Types of horse ownership with
relative pros and cons;
4. Costs involved/review local bills
for actual horses;
5. How to choose a trainer;
6. Visit barns to meet with
trainers;
7. Dinner at the races.
