Recap of August 21st and 22nd CHRB Meeting

Wednesday Aug 21, 2013 - The CHRB ADW committee along with the CHRB legal counsel agreed that the C.H.H.A and Los Alamitos should enter into a settlement regarding the ADW money. It was a great day for our horsemen and for our board and David and Renee did a great job in presenting our case. It will be heard again at the September meeting in hopes that a settlement has been reached.

Thursday Aug 22, 2013 - Watch and Wager was approved for their license application and everything went very smooth. Watch and Wager was missing their financials in the application packet but as Ben explained they are going thru a audit and will have the final audited financials shortly and will turn them in. He nor I see this as a problem. Also today I announced to the CHRB that we the C.H.H.A are setting up a program that will begin in October to help "Grooms" with living expenses due to the fact that they are not able to use the tack rooms as living quarters. The dollar amount has yet to be determined but the program will run to the end of the year. At which point we will have a look at the program and see if we will continue it and for how long. I will hold a meeting for grooms and trainers the first week of October to get this program under way. There are a few details that need to be ironed out but this program is to help people holding a valid CHRB grooms license and work for a licensed harness trainer and make their living as a groom and do not earn any money from any other license such as a owner, trainer or driver. I will be working on this the next few weeks so any input will be appreciated. The dollar amount will depend on how many grooms meet the guidelines.
